Sb Scientific Works

Our place at No. 12/1/1A Rani Sankari Lane is tucked away in Kalighat. It is a narrow lane and if a big truck comes through, everything stops. Sb Scientific Works has been here for a while now. The building is older, with high ceilings and some cracks in the plaster. We have shelves full of glass tubes and metal parts. It smells like old paper and sometimes a bit of oil. The light isn't great in the back room so we use those tall floor lamps. In the afternoons, you can hear the bells from the nearby temples. It is a busy area. Most of the people working here live close by so they walk or take the cycle. We don't have a big sign outside, just a small one near the door. The floor is made of that old green stone that stays cool in the summer. We spend a lot of time checking lists and packing things into wooden crates. It is noisy because of the traffic on the main road, but you get used to it. The tea here is always too sweet, but nobody complains. We just keep our heads down and do what we need to. It is a lot of manual work, moving boxes and writing out labels by hand. Sometimes we lose track of time when a big order comes in.
