We operate out of Madhukunj at 48 Satish Mukherjee Road. If you know the Kalighat Metro Station, we are very close to that. It’s a busy part of town, so there is always something going on outside our windows. The noise of the city is just part of our workday. Our office is a simple room in this building. We’ve been here for several years. It’s convenient being near the metro because most of us use it to get to work. The space inside is mostly taken up by desks and stacks of paperwork. We don't have a lot of room for anything else. We usually start the day with some tea and a quick talk about what needs to happen. We spend a lot of time on the phone or working on our ledgers. It’s not the most exciting work, but it’s what keeps Birla Gold Cement moving. Sometimes the building gets a bit stuffy, so we keep the windows open when the weather is nice. We know the other people in the building and say hello in the hallways. There’s a small tea stall just around the corner that we go to almost every day. It’s a regular routine for us. We don't have a big corporate setup. It’s just a few people in an office doing their jobs as best they can. It works for us and we’ve been doing it this way for a long time without much change or fuss.
