We’ve been here at P-23/24 on Radha Bazar Street for a long time now. It’s a busy part of town, always full of the sounds of traffic and people walking by. Dealing with glass isn't the easiest job, as it’s heavy and you have to be careful all day. We spend most of our hours cutting sheets to size and making sure things don't break during the process. Some days it gets pretty hot in here, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the shop directly. People come in looking for specific glass pieces for their homes or small shops. We just get on with the work, measuring things out and getting the edges right. It’s a lot of manual labor. Our space is filled with stacks of glass leaning against the walls. You learn to move around them without thinking after a while. Radha Bazar is one of those places where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We see the same tea sellers every morning. Sometimes the deliveries arrive late because the street is so narrow, but we manage. We aren’t doing anything fancy here, just basic glass work that people need for their projects. It’s a steady routine for us. We start early, clean the workspace, and start the cutters. There’s a certain way the glass sounds when it snaps clean that you get used to. It's just what we do here every day at Saraf Glass.
