Sangita Jutes

Started this place on Main Road East in New Barrackpur a while back. It’s a busy spot, right at number 123. The jute smells a bit earthy, especially when it rains outside and the humidity gets high. We spend most of our mornings moving bundles around and making sure everything is stacked right. It isn’t fancy work. My desk is usually covered in little bits of fiber that come off the bags. People from around the neighborhood drop by, sometimes just to ask directions or see what we have in stock today. The fan in the corner makes a clicking sound that I should probably fix, but I’ve gotten used to it over the years. We keep the doors open mostly to let the breeze in from the road. Sometimes the traffic gets loud, especially the rickshaws honking, but that’s just life here. We handle a lot of different sizes of jute products. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk about the weather or the local news while drinking tea from the shop next door. Other days, trucks arrive early and we are busy till late evening. It’s a simple living. We don’t have a big office or anything, just the workspace and the storage area. It stays dusty because of the material, but we try to sweep up every evening before locking up the heavy shutters and heading home. It's just a regular local business doing what we do.
