Our office is tucked away in the Ganguly Apartment building on Dr. Ashutosh Shasri Road in Kolkata. It is an old part of the city, and we have been working out of here for a long time. Construction in a city like Kolkata is never simple. You have to deal with narrow streets, old buildings, and a lot of different regulations. We spend our days looking at maps and talking to contractors. Sometimes we are out at a site in the salt lake area or deeper in the city, checking on the masonry or the plumbing. The office itself is full of rolls of paper and samples of tiles and paint. It is not very modern, but it works for us. We have a small group of regulars who work with us on every project. We do not really do much in the way of advertising; mostly people hear about us from their neighbors or friends. It is a lot of back-and-forth with the suppliers to get the right price for bricks and steel. The traffic on Ashutosh Shasri Road can be a nightmare in the evenings, so we try to get our site visits done early. The walls of our office in Ganguly Apartment are covered with old photos of projects we finished years ago. It reminds us of how much work we have actually put in. We don't have a receptionist, so you just walk in and someone will look up from their desk to help you.
