If you have ever been to Armenian Street in Bara Bazar, you know it is a total madhouse. That is where we are, right in the thick of it. Sachi Fabric is basically a long room filled from floor to ceiling with rolls of cloth. You can find cotton, silk, and all sorts of blends if you dig deep enough. The smell of dye and raw fabric is always there. It’s a bit dark inside because the buildings are so close together that the sun barely reaches the street level. We spend most of our day unrolling fabric for customers who want to feel the texture or see the colors in the light. It’s a lot of heavy lifting, moving those big rolls around. We don't have any fancy displays or mannequins. It’s just stacks of cloth and a few old wooden tables for cutting. Most of our customers are tailors or small shop owners who have been buying from us for a long time. They know the quality we keep. The street outside is always crowded with handcarts and people shouting, so it can get pretty stressful if you aren't used to it. We take our lunch sitting on the stools in the back. It’s a tough business with small margins, but it’s what we know. We have been here for years and the street hasn't changed much at all. We just keep selling our fabric.
