S. K. Plastic

S. K. Plastic is right at No. 96, Akhil Mistry Lane in Sealdah. Being beside Surendranath College means the street is almost always packed with students and people rushing to the station. It’s a narrow lane, so getting supplies delivered can be a bit of a headache sometimes, especially when the rickshaws and pedestrians are everywhere. Our shop is old-school, filled from floor to ceiling with all sorts of plastic goods. It’s a bit cramped inside, and there’s that distinct smell of new plastic that you never really stop noticing. We’ve been in this part of Sealdah for years, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit, though the noise remains the same. The college bell is our unofficial clock for the day. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the front shutter during a heavy monsoon, so we keep some old towels handy for that. We don't have a website or a fancy catalog. Most people just walk in or call us up because they know we’ve been here forever. It’s a family-style environment where we argue about what to order for lunch and then work through the afternoon heat. There’s no air conditioning, just a few ceiling fans that have seen better days. It’s a basic, hard-working shop that deals with the daily chaos of one of the busiest parts of the city. We just keep our heads down and get the job done.
