R.S.M.Construction

We are based out of Shumanglam Apartment, right on R.B.C. Extension Road in Dumdum Cantonment. It’s R.S.M. Construction, though most people just know us by the name on the door at Subarat Basu’s place. Working in Kolkata has its own rhythm, especially out here near the cantonment area. The office is tucked away in the apartment building, so it's not a big storefront you'd see from the main road. We spend a lot of time on different sites, but this is where all the planning and the phone calls happen. The road outside can get pretty crowded during rush hour, so getting in and out takes some patience. We’ve got a small crew that handles the day-to-day stuff. It's mostly blueprints and calculators spread out over the tables. We don’t have any fancy corporate offices with glass walls. It’s just a practical space where we can focus. Being in the -28 postal zone means we're pretty settled in this part of the city. We know the local suppliers and the guys who deliver the materials. Sometimes the heat in Kolkata makes the afternoons slow, but we keep the fans going and get through the work. It’s a lot of coordination between the office and the actual construction spots. We don’t really spend money on big signs. Most people who need us already know where to find the apartment. It's just how we operate. We have some old filing cabinets that have been with us since we started.
