Roots

We've been at 28/1, Santoshpur West Road for quite a long time. Kolkata is a city that never really stays quiet, and our little corner in Santoshpur is no different. Roots is the name on the door, but to most people around here, we are just the neighbors who are always busy with work. It started out as a small idea among friends and it just grew into what it is today. We don’t have a massive staff or a tall building. It is just a practical space where we get things done. Some mornings the rain makes the road a bit messy, but we still open up and get to it. We deal with various things depending on what people are looking for. It’s a lot of coordination and making sure the details aren’t missed. Sometimes we stay late because a job needs finishing, and other times we close early if the heat gets too much. There’s no big manual on how we run things; we just figure it out as we go. You won't find any glossy brochures here. We talk to people face-to-face and try to understand what they need without using a lot of jargon. Living and working in Kolkata-75 means you get to know the regulars. We’ve seen kids grow up and the shops change hands. We are just a part of the local fabric, doing our bit day by day. It’s hard work but it keeps us all going through the week.
