I work from P269, Manicktala Main Road. It’s a pretty busy part of Kolkata to be in. The road outside is always full of cars and buses. My office is a simple place where I handle my accounting practice. I’ve got a desk, a few chairs for visitors, and shelves full of tax law books. It isn't a large firm with hundreds of people. It’s just me and a little bit of help when things get really hectic. I spend my mornings going through emails and my afternoons usually consist of meeting people or working on filings. Manicktala is a convenient location because it’s easy to reach from different parts of the city. I've been at this address for quite a bit of time now. The office is functional. I don't believe in having a lot of decorations. I’d rather have space for my files and folders. I deal with all the usual things like GST and income tax. People from the neighborhood know they can just come by when they need something looked at. I try to keep things simple. If a client has a problem with their books, we sit down and look at the numbers until we find a solution. It's a very direct way of doing business. No complicated jargon, just plain talk about what needs to be done. It keeps the day moving along well enough for me.
