Rio Tinto Exploration India Ltd

We operate under the Rio Tinto Exploration India name, though our contact point is mostly digital these days through Deepankar's email. We spend a lot of time out in the field looking at different sites across India. Exploration isn't a desk job. It involves a lot of traveling to remote places, looking at rocks, and trying to figure out what’s under the ground. When we aren't out in the dirt, we are staring at maps and data on our laptops. We don't really have a central shop front where people walk in. Most of our communication happens over the phone or through messages while we are on the move. It can be a bit lonely sometimes, spending weeks away from home, but it’s interesting work if you like being outdoors. We deal with a lot of technical stuff and geology reports. It isn't as exciting as it sounds in the movies; it’s mostly just a lot of waiting and careful measuring. We try to be thorough with our notes because a small mistake can lead to a lot of wasted time later. We don't have a big team in a fancy office, just a group of people who know their way around a site. We just focus on the facts and the findings and send our reports through when we find a stable internet connection. It’s hard work, but we like it.
