Rice Education

Rice Education is located at 58 A on the first floor of the Rohini Apartment. This is on Acharya Prafulla Chandra Road, which everyone just calls APC Road, right in the heart of Kolkata. We are near the Jagat Cinema, which is a big landmark in this part of town. The building itself is one of those typical Kolkata structures that has been around for a while. Being on the first floor is nice because we don't have to climb too many stairs. APC Road is always full of traffic, trams, and people, so it is never quiet here. You can hear the bells of the trams passing by every few minutes. Inside the apartment, we have converted the rooms into spaces for our work. It still feels a bit like a home, which is nice. We have some wooden desks and a lot of filing cabinets. The ceiling fans are the old heavy kind. We spend our days managing the classes and talking to people who drop by. There is a small balcony where we sometimes stand to get a bit of air, though the air on APC Road is mostly exhaust fumes. The walls are a pale yellow and could probably use a fresh coat of paint. We are just a group of people doing our jobs in a busy city. It is a very down-to-earth place without any bells or whistles. We are usually here until late evening.
