Our small team is located at Kamlesh Kumar Jha’s flat, specifically flat number 1/17 on T.P Road in Ushagram. Asansole is a busy place and being right here in West Bengal means we see a lot of people coming and going. The office is basically a flat that we converted so it feels very much like a home. You can hear the sounds of the street from the windows and there is always a bit of dust because of the local traffic. We handle the Reliance Energy Ltd tasks from here, mostly sitting around the main table with our laptops. It gets pretty humid during the monsoon months and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy to worry about that right now. People around Ushagram know where we are if they need to drop off documents. We do not have a fancy reception desk or a sign that lights up at night. It is just us working through the piles of paper and keeping track of things on the computer. Sometimes the internet is slow but we just wait it out and have some chai. It is a simple setup and we like it that way because it keeps things straightforward. We are just local workers trying to stay on top of the daily grind without making a big fuss about anything. It stays pretty loud outside until late evening.
