We’ve been at 138, Canning Street for a long time. It’s a busy spot, and the building has seen better days, but it’s home to us. We make reeds and other parts for the textile industry. It’s specialized work, and not many people do it the old-fashioned way anymore. Our workshop is full of specialized tools and bits of metal. It’s not the cleanest place, but everything has its purpose. The staff here are more like craftsmen than factory workers. They have a real feel for the materials. We don’t have a big marketing department or a fancy showroom. If you want to see what we make, you just come into the back and we’ll show you. Canning Street is always loud with traffic and people, but once you step inside, it’s all about the work. We’ve kept things running through good times and bad. We don’t use any of those big corporate buzzwords. We just make parts that people need for their looms. Sometimes an order takes longer if a machine breaks down, but we always get it done eventually. People know us because we’ve been in the same spot forever. It’s just a small business trying to keep a traditional trade alive in a world that’s moving very fast. We like what we do, and we like being right here on Canning Street. The lighting inside is a bit dim, but we know our way around the workbenches without needing much help. It suits us just fine.
