You can find Ravi Pugaliya & Associates over at 24A, Shakespeare Sarani. We are in the Parijaat building, up on the second floor in room 22/5A. It’s one of those classic Kolkata buildings with high ceilings and thick walls that hold the heat. Our office isn't particularly modern. We have rows of steel cupboards filled with client files and several desks that are always covered in loose papers and calculators. The ceiling fans work hard all day to keep the air moving, but it’s still quite humid during the monsoon. We don't have a big sign outside or a fancy lobby. People usually find us by word of mouth or by looking at the directory near the elevator. The staff here is small, mostly just a handful of people who have been working together for a decade. We spend a lot of time squinting at ledgers or talking quietly among ourselves about the latest regulations. It’s a very studious atmosphere, but not in a stiff way. We often share snacks in the afternoon while we work through the pile of folders on the main table. Shakespeare Sarani is always bustling outside, but once you step into our room, the noise fades a bit. We just focus on the numbers and the documents, making sure everything is filed where it belongs. It’s a quiet, steady kind of life here in room 22/5A.
