Down on Satkari Mitra Lane, things are usually moving pretty fast. Our small office here at 2B is where we handle the West Bengal side of things for Ramky Infrastructure. Kolkata has its own rhythm, and we’ve adapted to it over the years. It’s an old building, typical of this part of the city. We have high ceilings and some very old desks that have seen better days. But they work fine for holding up our computers and stacks of site drawings. Most mornings start with a lot of phone calls to various sites to see if the materials arrived on time. Rain can sometimes slow things down, especially during the monsoon, which is always a topic of conversation here. We’ve got a small team in this office. Everyone knows their job and we don’t really need much supervision. It’s a lot of coordination between the head office and the local laborers. Sometimes we have to run out to a site at a moment's notice. The lane outside can be narrow and crowded, so getting a vehicle in and out is always a bit of a challenge. We’ve grown used to the noise and the local tea shops. We aren't trying to be the biggest or flashiest office in town. We just focus on getting the work done and making sure the projects in Bengal are moving along as they should be. It’s a straightforward way of working.
