Rama Offset Printers

Our shop is at number 21 on Ramkrishna Lane. It’s a narrow street, so if a big truck comes through, everyone has to move their stuff out of the way. We’ve been doing offset printing here for a good while. The shop isn't very large, so we have to be smart about where we put the paper stock. If we get a big order, it can feel like the walls are closing in a bit. The offset machines are old-fashioned but they work well if you treat them right. We spend a lot of time cleaning the plates and getting the tension just right on the rollers. It’s a lot of manual work, really. There’s no automation here where you just press a button and walk away. You have to stay with the machine and listen to it. If it sounds a bit off, you stop and fix it. We have a small desk near the front where we keep the books and take orders. It’s usually covered in samples and half-empty cups of tea. We know most of the people who come in. They live in the neighborhood or have businesses nearby. We don't do any big advertising. We just have the name on the door and that’s enough. It’s a quiet life on the lane, except for the sound of the printer, which we don't mind at all. Most days, we just keep the door open for the breeze.
