We are located at 2E, Radha Gobinda Saha Lane, right in the Park Circus area of Kolkata. If you know this part of the city, you know how busy the streets get with all the traffic and the noise. Our building is tucked back in the lane, which is a bit narrow for the bigger trucks, so unloading can be a real headache sometimes. Inside the mill, it’s mostly the sound of the looms and the smell of the fabric. It is an old place, and you can see it in the walls and the way the stairs have worn down over the years. We deal with silk, so there is thread everywhere, sticking to your clothes by the time you leave. There are about twenty of us working here on a regular day. We usually have the fans going full blast because the humidity in West Bengal is no joke, especially in the afternoons. The office is just a small room partitioned off with some glass that needs cleaning. We don't do anything fancy here. We just get the orders ready and ship them out as fast as the couriers can pick them up. Sometimes the rain floods the lane a bit, and we have to stack the boxes higher. It’s just how things are in this part of town. We’ve been here long enough that the neighbors don't mind the noise anymore. It’s just work, day in and day out, making sure the silk is right.
