R Shantilal Electric Co has its home at 35 Ezra Street in the old Calcutta GPO area. If you have ever been to Ezra Street, you know it is the place to go for anything electrical. The street is always packed with people, rickshaws, and carts carrying all sorts of lights and wires. Our shop is right in the middle of that chaos. It is an old building, like most of the ones in this part of Kolkata, with high ceilings and walls that have seen a lot of history. We have been here for many years, selling electrical goods to whoever walks through the door. It is not a modern showroom; it is more of a traditional shop where things are stacked up to the ceiling. Finding what you need sometimes takes a bit of hunting through the shelves, but we know where everything is. The noise from the street never really stops until late at night. We open up early and stay until the market starts to quiet down. Being near the GPO makes it a very central location, even if the traffic is a nightmare most of the time. We just focus on giving people the parts they are looking for without making a big fuss about it. It is a busy, cramped, and lively place to work every single day, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
