Public Works Deptt.Govt Of West Bengal

This is the Public Works Deptt under the Government of West Bengal, based out of Flat-D/8 in the Parui Government Housing Estate. Our office sits right on Biren Roy Road in the Kol-61 area. It is a bit of a tight space since we are operating out of a housing estate block, but it works for what we need to do. Most of the day is spent coordinating with different departments about the housing maintenance and other state projects in the vicinity. There is always a lot of activity on Biren Roy Road, so the sounds of the city are always in the background while we work. We handle the technical side of things for the government buildings around here. It is a lot of checking on supplies and making sure the contractors are following the plans. Our team is small, mostly just a few engineers and clerks who have been with the department for years. We do not have a big fancy lobby or anything like that. It is just a workspace filled with old files, calculators, and blue-prints. We get a lot of people from the housing estate coming in with questions about their flats. We just try to answer them and get the repairs scheduled when the funds come through. It is a typical government job in Kolkata. We have worked in this area for quite a while now.
