Our office is on the first floor at 14, Chittaranjan Avenue. This building is pretty old, so it has that classic Kolkata feel to it. We deal with printed circuit boards and other electronic bits. The work involves a lot of staring at small parts and making sure the connections are right. It’s easy to get a headache after a few hours of that. The fans in the ceiling hum all day long to keep the heat off the components. We don’t have a big sign outside, just a small one by the entrance. Most of our clients have been coming to us for years. We spend a lot of time dealing with the logistics of getting raw materials delivered to this busy street. Traffic on CR Avenue is a nightmare, so we usually try to get things moved very early in the morning. Inside, it’s a bit of a maze with all the tables and soldering stations. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just like to get the work done right so we can go home on time. Sometimes a batch of boards comes back with an error, and we have to spend the whole weekend fixing it. That’s just part of the trade. We keep some tea and biscuits in the cupboard for when the afternoon slump hits. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living in this city.
