Practising Engineer With Own Setup

I’ve got my own engineering setup running out of Vishal Apartments on Santosh Roy Road in Kolkata. It’s a small operation, just me and a couple of others helping out when things get really busy. Being an independent engineer means you do a bit of everything yourself. I handle the drawings, the site visits, and all the technical calculations. The office is at 2/2, so it’s easy for people to drop by and chat. Kolkata is a city that’s always changing, and there’s always something needing a fix or a new plan drawn up. I’ve been working in this field for many years now and decided to go out on my own a while back. It’s a lot more responsibility but I like being my own boss. The workspace is usually covered in blueprints and old coffee mugs. We don’t have a fancy reception area or anything like that. If you come here, you’ll just see us working at our desks. My focus is on getting the numbers right and making sure the structures are safe for everyone. Sometimes the projects are just small house repairs, other times it’s something a bit bigger. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except when a big deadline is looming. I prefer it this way, keeping things local and manageable without all the corporate overhead or fancy titles. It’s just honest engineering work done by people who care about the final results.
