Ali Sher Khan Store

You’ll find Ali Sher Khan Store at 2 No. Portugese Church Street. It’s an old street with a lot of history. The shop has been here for years, and the walls show it. We have a heavy wooden door that creaks every time someone walks in. I usually sit near the front to greet whoever comes through. Portugese Church Street can get quite crowded in the afternoons. There’s a lot of walking traffic here. I started running Ali Sher Khan Store after my uncle retired. It’s a small space, filled with shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. I have to use a ladder to reach the stuff at the top. It’s a bit dusty, but I try to wipe things down when I have a spare minute. The light inside is a bit dim, but we have a couple of bright bulbs over the counter. People around here know us by name. We don't do any fancy marketing; we just open the doors and wait for the day to start. We’ve seen a lot of changes on this street, but the store stays pretty much the same. It’s just a local shop for local people. Sometimes the kids from the school nearby come in just to look.
