74, Shyam Bazar Street. If you know North Kolkata, you know how this street is. It’s old, it’s crowded, and it’s full of history. Our building is one of those traditional ones. High ceilings and thick walls. Poder Sons has been around for quite a while. We handle export stuff. The office feels like it’s frozen in time sometimes. We have these large wooden desks and heavy chairs. There are ledgers and files piled up. The street outside is a constant roar of trams, rickshaws, and people shouting. We can hear the market from here. It’s a bit chaotic, but we like it. The light comes in through these tall, thin windows. We have a lot of long-time employees who have been with the family for decades. It’s not a modern corporate environment. We talk a lot, drink a lot of tea, and handle our business at our own pace. Sometimes we have to move boxes around, and the dust flies everywhere. The staircase is made of wood and creaks when you walk up. The shutters are heavy and take two people to pull down. We’ve seen many summers here, and the thick walls keep us relatively cool. It’s a place where we know every corner and every squeaky floorboard. That’s just Poder Sons for you on Shyam Bazar Street. We stay until the evening rush starts to fade and then we head home like everyone else.
