Asian Glass Works

Our workshop is at No. 173 Picnic Garden Road in Kolkata. If you've ever been down this road, you know it can be quite a scramble with all the traffic. Asian Glass Works is a place where there's always something being cut or moved. Glass is heavy and fragile, so we have to be pretty focused when we're working. The floor is usually covered in a bit of dust, and there are sheets of glass leaning against almost every wall. We don't have a fancy office; it’s mostly just the work floor and a small desk where we keep the records. It gets loud with the sound of cutting and the occasional break. We wear our old clothes and just get on with it. It’s not the kind of job where you stay clean all day. Most of us have been doing this for years, so we have the rhythm down. The heat in the summer can be tough, especially when we are busy with a big order. We have a few fans going, but they mostly just move the warm air around. People stop by to ask about sizes or prices, and we just tell them how it is. We aren't trying to be the biggest or anything, just a solid local shop that knows how to handle glass without making a mess of it. It is hard work, but we are used to it by now.
