Orissa Sponge Iron Ltd

Even though the name says Orissa Sponge Iron Ltd, we are actually located over in Kolkata on Selimpur Road. It’s in the Dhakuria area, which is a pretty established part of the city. The office is at 31/B, and it’s a bit of an old-fashioned building compared to the new high-rises you see popping up everywhere. It’s a busy street with plenty of people walking by and small shops all around. We handle the business side of the iron work from here. It can get a bit loud with the traffic outside, but we are used to the Kolkata noise by now. Most of our days are spent on the phone or dealing with the mail that comes through. It’s not a huge operation in this specific building, just a handful of us making sure the paperwork for the sponge iron business is moving along. We don’t have a big lobby or a receptionist in a suit. You just walk in and find us working at our desks. Sometimes the fans are clicking away and it feels like time has stood still for a bit. We’ve been at this Dhakuria address for years and people in the neighborhood know us as the iron people, even if the iron isn't actually here in the city. It’s just how the business is set up.
