Oriental Spares

If you head down toward Than Ghat in Kashipur, you’ll find our shop in Dasnagar. We have been here for a long time, surrounded by piles of spare parts for all kinds of machinery. It’s a bit crowded inside because we try to keep everything someone might need on the shelves. You might have to wait a minute while we dig through a box to find a specific bolt or plate. It isn’t the most organized-looking place, but we generally know where everything is tucked away. The neighborhood is fairly quiet compared to the main roads, which is nice. We spend a lot of time talking to customers who come in looking for something very specific that they can't find elsewhere. Sometimes they bring the broken part with them so we can match it up. We drink a lot of chai during the day and chat with the neighbors. The shop front is simple and we don’t have any big neon signs. It’s just a local spot for people who need to fix their gear. We’ve seen the area change a lot, but our little corner stays pretty much the same. It’s dusty work handling old metal parts, but it’s what we do. We open early and stay until the sun goes down. Most people around here know us by name. It’s a simple life selling spares and we don’t need much else to keep us going through the week.
