Oriental Enterprises

Our place is at 99/91 Jessore Road in Kolkata. If you have ever been to this part of West Bengal, you know how much traffic there is. The noise of the horns and the people is just part of our daily life here. We run Oriental Enterprises from an office that has been around for quite a while. It’s an old building and it gets a bit damp during the monsoon season, but it works for us. We do trading and supply work. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of shelves and some old wooden desks where we keep the accounts. We don’t have a website or any of that modern stuff. We prefer to talk to our customers and suppliers directly. It’s more about the handshakes and the long-term relationships we have built up in the 700 028 area. Kolkata has a very specific way of doing things, and we have been part of it for a long time. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to work by the light from the window, but we get the job done. We aren't a big company with a lot of hierarchy. It’s just us doing the daily tasks of buying and selling. We keep our ledgers updated by hand mostly. It is a simple life and it keeps us occupied. Jessore Road is always changing, but our little office stays pretty much the same. It’s a solid way to make a living.
