If you walk down Rash Behari Avenue, you’ll find us at 123 A. This part of Calcutta is always moving, and Rash Behari Avenue itself is one of those streets that never seems to get quiet. We are right there in the middle of it. The clinic is a combination of things—we do general medicare and we also have the infertility clinic part. It makes for an interesting mix of people in the waiting room. Some are here for basic health checks and others are dealing with more specific family matters. The building is an older style, typical of this neighborhood, with high ceilings and rooms that have been repurposed over the years. We don’t have a sleek, modern lobby with TV screens. Instead, we have chairs, some old magazines, and a lot of folders stacked behind the reception desk. The staff is usually busy handling phone calls or taking people back to see the doctors. It’s a very human place. People come in with a lot of hope, especially for the infertility side of things, and we just try to be practical and helpful. We deal with the daily chores like making sure the equipment is clean and the schedules are set.
