Neptune Leather

Neptune Leather is located at 6/4 Palm Avenue inside the Gulshan Apartment complex. It’s a bit of an unusual spot for a leather business, being in an apartment building, but it works for us. We use one of the ground-floor units as our workspace. It keeps things quiet and private, which we prefer. We have rolls of leather leaning against the walls and several worktables where we do all the cutting and assembly. Because we are in a residential area, we have to be careful about not making too much noise late at night. The smell of the hides is quite noticeable, but the windows on Palm Avenue bring in a good amount of fresh air. We don't have a walk-in shop where people can just browse. Most of our work is done for specific clients who already know what they want. We spend a lot of time on the details, sitting under bright lights to make sure the stitching is straight. Sometimes the thread snaps and we have to start a section over again, which is frustrating but just part of the process. We’ve been at Gulshan Apartment for a few years now and have a good relationship with the other residents. It’s a professional but small-scale operation. We don't have any big plans to move to a factory or anything like that. We like the way things are right now, just focusing on the craft in our own space.
