Our real estate office is tucked away in the Jogendra Gardens area of Kolkata. We are in Deepali Apartment, specifically Flat-2B. Kolkata-78 is our pin code. It’s a residential neighborhood, so it’s a bit quieter than being right on the main main road. We call the business Nai Nk Realtors. It’s basically just a few of us working out of this apartment. We converted the front rooms into an office space. It’s got a homey feel because, well, it is a flat. We have a small balcony where we sometimes stand and talk about the housing market while watching the street below. There’s usually a lot of paperwork because real estate involves so many forms and registrations. We have a couple of computers that are always running. Visitors usually sit on the sofa in the main room. We don't have a big sign outside, just a small one near the bell. It’s a local operation. We know the buildings in this part of Kolkata very well. People come to us when they are looking for a place to rent or buy nearby. We tell them what we know about the different blocks. It’s a low-key way to work, but it suits us. We’ve been here for a good while and know the local market. It’s not fancy, but we manage to help people find what they need. We usually close up around seven or eight. Sometimes we have to meet clients on weekends too.
