M/S Parash Nath Shaw & Co.

Our shop is located at 11A, Nirmal Chandra Street, right in the middle of Bowbazar. It's an old building, and the street gets incredibly crowded during the middle of the day. We’ve been operating under the name M/S Parash Nath Shaw & Co. for a long time now. The space isn't huge, so we have to be very careful about how we stack everything. Usually, there’s a lot of noise from the street outside, and customers are always popping in and out. It’s a bit chaotic, but we’re used to it. We deal with various supplies, and most of our time is spent answering the phone or writing down orders in our ledgers. We still do a lot of things the old way, with pen and paper. It's just easier for us to keep track of what's going on. Some of the guys have been working here for years and they know the stock better than anyone. You might have to wait a bit if we're busy with another customer, but we try to get to everyone as fast as we can. The neighborhood is full of history, and we feel like a small part of that. There’s always someone stopping by for a chat or to ask about prices. We just keep the doors open and see what the day brings, trying to stay organized in a place that’s always moving. It's a lot of work but we like it here.
