We are located at 20, British India Street. It’s one of those old buildings with a lot of character, and maybe a few too many stairs. We’ve been here for quite a while. The office is a bit cramped, but we make it work. We deal with international trade, so there are always papers from different countries lying around. It’s a lot of back-and-forth on the phone and email. Sometimes the internet acts up because of the old wiring in the building, which can be frustrating when you’re trying to close a deal. We’re a small team. There’s no hierarchy here; everyone just pitches in where they are needed. If the bins need emptying, whoever is closest does it. We don’t have a big fancy lobby with a fountain. Most of our clients never even see the office; they just know us by our voices and the work we do. British India Street has its own rhythm, and we’ve become part of it. The tea stall downstairs knows our order by heart. We don’t do any of that modern corporate branding stuff. We just focus on getting the goods moved and the paperwork filed correctly. It’s a busy life, but it’s what we know. We’ve seen many businesses come and go on this street, but we’re still here, doing the same things we’ve always done. The windows rattle a bit when the heavy trucks go by, but you get used to that after the first week of working here.
