We are located on the third floor of a building on Kustia Road in Kolkata. It is not the newest building on the street, but it is where we do all our planning and paperwork. Being builders in a city like Kolkata means there is always something going on. We deal with bricks, cement, and plenty of blueprints. Our office at number 11 is where we meet with the site supervisors to see how the work is progressing. It is usually pretty dusty in here from the material samples we keep lying around on the floor. We have a couple of old desks and some chairs for when people come in to talk about their building projects. Construction is a tough business with a lot of moving parts that can go wrong. Sometimes things get delayed because the monsoon is too heavy or the materials do not show up on time. That is just how it is in this trade. We do not spend much money on decorating the office because we would rather be out at the sites seeing how the walls are going up. Kolkata is crowded and building anything here takes a lot of patience and time. We just try to get the jobs done and move to the next one. The elevator in this building is a bit moody, so we often just take the stairs. It keeps us moving anyway.
