You can find Mittra Trading Company at 18/A on Ramdhone Mittra Lane. It’s one of those narrow lanes where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We’ve been here for years, and the building itself is quite old. It has that specific smell of old wood and stacks of paper. We trade in various goods, and our stock changes depending on what’s available or what people are asking for that week. The front door sticks a little in the rainy season, so you have to give it a good push to get inside. We don’t have a website or anything like that. Most of our customers are people who have been buying from us for decades. We sit at our old desks, drink a lot of tea, and talk to whoever walks in. Sometimes it's more about the conversation and catching up than the actual sale. The lane can get quite congested with rickshaws and people walking, but that’s just the character of the neighborhood. We keep our ledgers by hand mostly, though we’ve started using a calculator more often now. It’s a simple way of doing business that we prefer. We don't see the need to change much because this way has worked for us for a long time. It’s not a fast-paced environment. We take our time and make sure everything is sorted out correctly.
