You’ll find us at Flat Number 16 in Building 200X, right on S.P. Mukharjee Road. This is part of the Metro Railway under Indian Railways here in Kolkata-26. It’s a busy stretch of road, always full of cars and people rushing around. Working for the railways means there is always something to do, whether it’s maintenance, planning, or just keeping the records straight. Our office is inside a regular building, so it feels very grounded. We aren't tucked away in some skyscraper. Most of us have been with the railways for years. We know the system inside and out, but it still manages to surprise us sometimes. The walls of the office are covered in maps and old notices. It’s a bit cluttered, to be honest, but we know where everything is. We take our tea breaks seriously and often end up talking about the trains even when we’re off the clock. Kolkata is the soul of the Indian metro system, and being part of that history is something we think about, though we don't talk about it in a fancy way. We just show up, do the shifts, and handle the paperwork. Sometimes the equipment is old and needs a bit of coaxing, but we make it work. It’s a steady job in a city that never really stops moving. We’re just glad to be a part of the daily commute.
