Meter Point

We are located upstairs in the North Block of 32 Ezra Street, in room number 162 on the first floor. It’s a bit quieter up here than it is on the ground floor, but you can still hear the shouting and the horns from the street below. Our room is filled with all sorts of meters and testing equipment scattered across the workbenches. There are wires everywhere and small tools that we use for the fine work. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful not to trip over things. We spend most of our time looking through magnifying glasses or checking dials to make sure everything is reading correctly. We keep a lot of our records in handwritten books because it’s just easier for us that way. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, and the hallway isn't always lit very well, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We usually have a pot of tea going, and we take turns going down to the street to grab some snacks. It’s a specialized kind of work, but we don't try to act like it’s more than it is. We just look at the equipment, find the problems, and try to get them sorted out. It’s a quiet, steady kind of life here in our little corner of the building. We just do the work and try to keep everything organized.
