Madhumita Construction

You can find us at 181/18 on the G.T. Road. We are in the Gantir Bagan area of Baidyabati, which is part of the Hooghly district. Being right on the G.T. Road means there is always noise from the trucks and buses passing by. It’s a very busy stretch of road and it never really stays quiet for long. The office is just a simple building that we've used for a good while now. We called it Madhumita Construction and it’s stayed that way. Inside, it’s mostly just piles of ledgers and some chairs for people to sit. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are usually too busy with the daily work to worry about that. We have a small window that looks out onto the street, but we keep it closed most of the time to keep the dust and exhaust out. The heat in Baidyabati can be quite something in the summer months. We have a couple of old fans that stay on all day long to keep the air moving. It’s a local operation, so we know most of the shopkeepers around Gantir Bagan. We don't have a big corporate structure. It’s just a few of us handling the construction paperwork and talking to people who come in. We don't use any fancy systems, just the basic stuff. It’s a practical place to work and it feels like a real part of the neighborhood here in Hooghly. We just do our thing every day.
