Mackintosh Burn Limited

Our office at Ganendra Mitra Lane is right in the heart of old Kolkata, specifically the Shyambazar area. It is a place with a lot of character, though the building itself shows its age. The walls are thick, and the ceilings are high, which helps a bit with the humidity during the monsoon. We have been part of the Mackintosh Burn history for a long time, and this branch has seen a lot of people come and go. The lanes around here are very narrow, so you really have to know where you are going to find us. Inside, there are stacks of old files and blueprints everywhere. We use computers now, of course, but the old paper records are still sitting on the high shelves, gathering a bit of dust. The ceiling fans make a clicking sound that we’ve all just stopped noticing. It’s a busy place with people shouting over the phone or discussing engineering drawings over cups of tea. When it rains, the sound on the roof is so loud you can’t hear yourself think. We don't have a modern interior design or anything like that. It’s just an old-fashioned engineering office where we do our daily work. It feels very connected to the city's past, and we like the fact that we are tucked away in a quiet lane instead of a big modern tower.
