If you find yourself down Dr. A. K. Paul Road in Behala, you’ll see our office at 216/A. We go by M S Tata Motors Ltd Singur, even though we are clearly here in the heart of Kolkata now. This part of the city is always crowded with rickshaws and people rushing to the market. Our space is functional, nothing more. We spend a lot of time on the phone or looking at inventory sheets. The building is older, with high ceilings that help a bit when the humidity gets high. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us handling the daily work for vehicles and parts. Sometimes the rain floods the street out front and we have to put some bricks down so people can get inside without soaking their shoes. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years. We keep things pretty simple. If someone needs a part or has a question about a truck, they just walk in. We don’t have fancy uniforms. Most of us just wear what’s comfortable for a long day. It’s a lot of paperwork and checking numbers twice to make sure everything matches up. We aren't trying to be the biggest, just trying to stay busy and helpful to the local transport guys who rely on us. It’s just a regular way to earn a living in a busy city.
