M. L. Ghosh & Co. is situated at 29, R. N. Mukherjee Road, which is right in the Chowringhee North area near Lal Bazar. This part of Kolkata has so much history, and you can feel it in the old walls of our office. The building has high ceilings and those big windows that let in all the city noise. We have been here for a long time, and not much has changed inside. There are stacks of files on the wooden desks and the smell of old paper everywhere. The ceiling fans spin all day long, but they do not do much against the humidity in the summer. We usually take a break in the afternoon to get some snacks from the vendors on the street. It is a busy place with lawyers and clerks constantly rushing around the Lal Bazar area. Our team is small, mostly people who have been with the firm for decades. We do not have a website or anything like that; we just rely on the people who know us and our location. Sometimes the rain in Kolkata floods the streets outside, and we have to wait for the water to go down before we can head home. It is a very traditional way of working, and we like the familiarity of the routine. We spend our hours writing out documents and talking to visitors who come by with their various needs. It is steady, quiet work in the middle of a very loud city.
