Our place is at 70 Kabi Nabin Sen Road in Kaji Para. It is in the Dumdum area of Kolkata, so it is usually quite loud and crowded outside on the street. Leaap International has its office in an old building that has a lot of character, I guess you could say. The stairs are a bit steep and the hallways are narrow. Inside, it is mostly just desks piled high with folders and ledgers. We have been here for years. You get used to the humidity and the sound of the ceiling fans clicking away overhead. We deal with international stuff, which sounds fancy, but it is really just a lot of emailing and checking schedules. The tea here is always strong and we drink a lot of it during our breaks. Sometimes the rain in West Bengal is so hard we can't hear ourselves talk. We just wait it out and watch the water hit the window. There are no polished marble floors or glass elevators here. Just us and a lot of hard work. We know the local rickshaw pullers and the guys at the tea stall around the corner. It is a very grounded kind of place to work. We just keep our heads down and make sure the cargo moves. Every day brings something a little different, even if the office stays the same year after year. It is home for us.
