Our ECC office in Kolkata is situated in the Lake Window Housing Society. We are in block B3/1 on Govidapur Road, right in the Lake Gardens area. It is actually a pretty nice part of the city to work in. We have the lake nearby which makes the air feel a bit different than the more industrial parts of town. The office is basically a flat that we have converted into a working space. It feels more like a home than a corporate building, which we kind of prefer. We have a small kitchen where we make coffee and take our breaks. Most of the time, we are busy with the logistics of different construction sites around West Bengal. There are always stacks of papers and site plans lying around on the tables. It gets a bit noisy when everyone is on the phone at once, but we are used to it by now. The society itself is quiet, which helps when we need to concentrate on the numbers. We have been here for quite some time, and the security guards at the gate know us all by name. It is a comfortable spot to handle the administrative side of the business. We do not have a big lobby or a receptionist, you just come in and find us working at our desks. It is a straightforward way to run things. We just try to get the work done without any fuss. (252 words)
