Our lab is situated over in Serampore, specifically in the Talpukur area. Hooghly is a place with a lot of history, and we’re just one of the many small businesses making a go of it here. We do lab work, mostly testing and checking things for our clients. The building is older, number 5 to be exact, but it serves our purpose just fine. Inside, it’s all about the benches and the glass bottles. It can get a bit humid in West Bengal, so we try to keep the climate control running as best as we can for the samples. The rain can be heavy here too, which makes the street outside quite muddy. The staff is mostly from around the district. We walk to the local market for lunch or grab something from the stalls nearby. It isn’t a high-tech corporate park; it’s just a street where people work hard. We’ve got our schedules and we stick to them. Most of the time, we’re buried in paperwork or looking at results. There’s always someone coming in with a delivery or a sample to drop off. We don’t have a fancy reception. You just walk in and find whoever is available. It’s a straightforward way to run a lab. We’ve been here long enough that the local shopkeepers know us all by name. It’s home for us, professionally speaking, and we just keep the work moving.
