Khaitan Trailer & Truck Transport is right at 132, Mahatma Gandhi Road, near the CR Avenue crossing in Burrabazar. If you have ever been to Burrabazar in Kolkata, you know it is probably the busiest market area in the whole country. Our office is right in the middle of all that madness. There are hand-drawn carts, trucks, and people everywhere you look. We have been at this MG Road address for a long time, dealing with trailers and heavy transport. The office is old, with high ceilings and fans that have been spinning for decades. It’s always loud outside, so we have to speak up to be heard over the traffic and the shouting of the coolies. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing team. People find us because we’ve been here at this crossing forever. We handle the heavy stuff, things that need big trailers to move. The paperwork is mostly done by hand or on old computers that have seen better days. It gets very hot in the afternoons, and the monsoon season makes the streets around here quite difficult, but we never stop. We just keep the trucks moving through the narrow lanes. It’s a tough environment, but it’s what we know. We just sit here with our ledgers and keep the business going one load at a time. It’s a lot of work but it's what we do.
