Kalakshetra

Kalakshetra is located at GE 167 on Rajdanga Main Road in the East Kolkata Township. We are very close to Rubi Hospital, which is the big landmark everyone uses to get around this part of the city. I have been in this area for a long time and I remember when it was much quieter than it is today. Now, Rajdanga Main Road is always full of traffic and new shops. Our place is a bit of a sanctuary from all that noise. It is a simple space where we focus on our practice and teaching. We don't have any flashy signs or expensive interior design. It is just a large room with good flooring and enough space for everyone. I think it is important to have a place that feels real and not like a cold business. I handle most of the day-to-day operations myself, from cleaning up to talking to the people who walk in. We don't have a marketing budget or anyone to handle social media for us. Most people hear about Kalakshetra through word of mouth. Someone’s friend will mention us at a gathering and then a new person shows up the next week. That is how we have grown over the years. It is a slow way to build something, but it feels more honest. We just open up every day and do what we love. It is a simple life and a simple business.
