K. L. Jute Products Pvt. Ltd. has been operating out of No. 22 Canning Street for quite some time now. If you’ve ever walked down Canning Street, you know how packed and noisy it gets with all the wholesalers and traders. Our place is right in the middle of all that chaos. We deal with jute, so there’s usually a bit of fiber in the air and the smell of raw material around the office. It’s a traditional kind of business. We don't have a modern glass building; it’s an old-school Kolkata office with high ceilings and heavy wooden doors. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to people who drop by the office at No. 22. Jute is a tough business, but it’s what we know. We’ve seen the market go up and down over the years from this very spot. The street outside is always blocked with handcarts and trucks, which makes getting things in and out a bit of a challenge. But that’s just part of being on Canning Street. We aren't trying to change the world. We’re just here to supply jute products and keep the business running like it always has. Most of our neighbors have been here as long as we have. It’s a community of traders and workers. We just do our part and keep the bales moving.
