Jai Durga Transport Co. We are located at 40C on the second floor of a building on Chittaranjan Avenue. This part of Kolkata is always moving and very loud. You can hear the trams rattling by and the constant honking of the yellow taxis outside our window. Our office is an old place. It has high ceilings and big windows that let in a lot of dust from the street. We have been doing transport work from here for a long time. There are stacks of old ledgers and notebooks everywhere because we still like to keep physical records of everything. The furniture is heavy wood and has been here since the beginning. We deal with truck drivers and cargo deliveries all day. It involves a lot of shouting over the phone to be heard over the traffic noise. We usually have a pot of tea going, and someone is always dropping by for a chat. It is not a modern office with glass walls or fancy carpets. It is a practical space where we manage the movement of goods across the city and beyond. Sometimes the monsoon rains make the walls a bit damp, but that is just part of living in an old Kolkata building. We are just local people doing a tough job in a very busy part of the city. We don't have a website, we just use the phone.
