J S R Construcation is based in Kolkata at C/8, Chalantika, on Garia Station Road. We are right in the P.O. Garia area, which is a very crowded and lively part of the city. Being near the station means there is a constant stream of people walking past our office from early morning until late at night. During the monsoon season, the road outside can get quite muddy and messy, but that is just life in Kolkata. Our office is in the Chalantika building, and it is a simple, no-frills space where we coordinate our construction projects. We have a few desks, some old cupboards for our records, and a lot of passion for what we do, even if the office looks a bit lived-in. We don't use any marketing jargon or try to sound bigger than we are. We are just a local construction outfit trying to do a decent job on the buildings we work on. The team is small and we all pitch in with whatever needs doing, whether it is visiting a site or dealing with suppliers who are stuck in traffic. Garia is a place with a lot of history and a lot of noise, and we fit right into that. We spend most of our time out on the field, so the office is mainly a place to gather and talk about the next steps. It is a busy, slightly chaotic way to work, but we like it.
