J. B. International is located at 73, Chanditala Main Road. If you know the New Alipore area, you know it can get pretty loud with all the traffic passing by. Our office is right there in the thick of it. We’ve got a door that opens almost directly onto the sidewalk, so we see a lot of the neighborhood life while we’re working. The space inside is mostly filled with stuff we’re organizing. We don’t go for the corporate look at all. There are chairs that don't match and a clock on the wall that’s always five minutes fast. We use it to make sure we aren't running behind. A typical day involves a lot of checking lists and talking to people on the phone. We deal with whatever comes through the door. Sometimes it’s quiet, and we just catch up on the filing, but other times it feels like three things are happening at once. The floor is tile and easy to sweep, which is good because people bring in a lot of dust from the main road. We keep a teapot in the back for when we need a break. It’s a humble setup, but it’s ours. We aren't trying to impress anyone with the decor; we just want to make sure the day’s work gets finished before we head home. It’s just us doing our bit on a busy corner.
